HonestBites (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is dedicated to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding data collection and usage in the HonestBites iOS application.
1. Zero-Account Architecture
HonestBites operates on a privacy-first model. We do not require you to create an account, register an email, or provide personal credentials to use the app. Your wishlist, personal ranked lists, and voting selections are stored locally on your device.
2. Location Information
If you grant location permissions, HonestBites uses your GPS coordinates solely within the app to display nearby restaurants and calculate distance to dining spots. We do not track your real-time location outside the app, and we do not sell or transmit your location history to data brokers or advertising networks.
3. User-Generated Content & Community Submissions
When you submit a restaurant review, dish recommendation, or vote on the Hitlist, this information is used solely to power the community features of HonestBites. We have a zero-tolerance policy for abusive, offensive, or defamatory content. Users may report any objectionable content or block users directly within the app or by contacting Honestbites.ca@gmail.com.
4. Third-Party Services & Links
HonestBites may provide external links to restaurant map navigation (Apple Maps) or Instagram reels (@honestbites.ca). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites or platforms.
5. Data Deletion
Since your personal ranked lists and preferences are stored locally on your device, you can delete your data at any time by clearing the app cache in Settings or by uninstalling the application.
